In more modern times though people usually have the cash for a dozen guns, and a seperate gun for each hunting / shooting need.

The serial number E263xxx if that helps out any. The 20 guage barrell holds either 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. I was hoping to find out its age most importantly and also whats it worth.

It is in great condition and the bluing and color. Just bought a Savage 24V series D 30-30 over 20 gauge at the gun show. I got this last spring and never did get to take it out to shoot it. It’s not a combo you see very often considering the other offerings Savage made. 357/20 Gauge as something I have always wanted. you have a say, 30/30 / 12 guage model, and now your set up to shoot a deer / coyote / elk at 100 yards, or squirrels / birds / turkey / coons up close, or as a 12 guage slug for more options, or even a set of these caliber inserts for cheap plinking / options using whatever ammo you happen to find cheap, or on hand. I traded a member here for this fine Savage 24V. which is nice, if your really poor and can only afford one gun, or can only bring one gun with you to the wilderness due to weight considerations. These guns appeal to the budget minded survivalist / hunter trapper types by offering multiple caliper options in a single gun. I am in Hocking county hour south of Columbus. Looking for a truck gun so finish isn’t important. for example, IIRC you can get a 32 acp adapter for a 30 cal rifle. Looking for a reasonably priced Savage model 24 in 357 over 20 gauge. there are adapters to convert 12 guage to a ton of other calibers and adapters to convert centerfire rifle to other calibers as well.
